Titanbay,
institutional access
for everyone else.

Took a working POC and rebuilt it into a market ready private markets platform. KYC and due diligence flows that don't feel like an interrogation. Portfolio construction modelling a 10 to 20 year outlook. A design system that finally let design and engineering ship at the same pace.

Background

Titanbay connects financial institutions and wealth managers to private market investment access, helping them build diversified high conviction portfolios for their clients. Both B2B and B2C surfaces, both demand the same thing. The data has to be honest, the journey has to be smooth, the experience has to feel like the rest of the financial services kit they use.

I joined when the platform existed as a proof of concept. Working code, but a long way from market ready. The remit was clear. Take it from "this works in a demo" to "this is something institutional clients will pay to use".

The Challenge

Platform evolution

Taking the POC to a go to market product meant designing everything from scratch. A genuine 0 to 1 build.

Regulatory compliance

KYC and due diligence are non negotiable in this space. The onboarding needed to be thorough without feeling like an interrogation.

Design system standardisation

Existing assets were inconsistent and fragmented. Every screen reinvented the patterns, slowing both design and engineering.

Advanced financial tooling

Portfolio construction modelling 10 to 20 year outlooks. Multi dimensional data that had to be readable, not just accurate.

03

Approach & Execution

Research first

Started with the compliance team. Workshops with officers and SMEs to map the onboarding journeys, finding exactly where regulatory requirements and good UX had to coexist.

Design system v2

Reorganised and standardised tokens, typography, data viz patterns, form fields, modals. Cut design to engineering handover time by an order of magnitude.

Cross functional partnership

Partnering with data science to turn Excel based financial models into interactive interfaces. Making multi dimensional data readable for wealth managers without losing precision.

Phased rollout

Onboarding first, then portfolio review, then construction, then capital calls. Each module testable, each module shippable in isolation.

"Thorough without feeling like an interrogation." That sentence ran my whole research phase. From the project notebook

Design System

Reorganised the Figma library. Tokens, typography, data viz, form field, modals, layouts, motion. Built a Storybook handover spec for engineering.

The platform shipped. Institutional clients started flowing through. The design system carried into the next phase and into the next two hires we made. The pattern of "compliance team in the room from week one" became the default for every Titanbay flow that came after.
